Cafe West Whitehaven opened in May 2009 and is a community cafe where people with learning difficulties can gain the necessary skills and qualifications to gain paid employment in the open market.
Our delicious food and drink are 100% homemade on the premises fresh every day. We have daily specials and fresh bread available to take away.
We’re proud of our local connections and do our best to use locally produced ingredients and local services whenever we can.
We have celebrated many happy years here and have a great team. We have seen each one of our trainees gain new skills and knowledge, and some are ready for working in other local businesses.
We are well known for a lot of our homemade goodies, but a huge hit is our homemade bread. We have an area at the front of the café where people can call in and buy a loaf or some rolls to take home, as well as enjoying them in the café.
The café ground floor is spacious, wheelchair friendly and seats 32 people. Our main entrance is on King Street, but we also have a door on Strand Street, which is a very short walk to the harbour.
We have extra seating upstairs in our gallery, which some of the tables enjoy views towards the harbour. Our gallery can be booked for private parties.
We also sell preloved books in our gallery which raises funds towards trips to food festivals, events and also the Christmas party for our trainees.
We like to give all of our customers a warm welcome and we look forward to seeing you.
