How to promote your Community Business Weekend event to media and beyond!

Alex goes through some of our key resources available for download, such as social media graphics (also good for printed material), templates for press, letters to editor and social posts, and even how to make a short film! It’s important to think about what your community business story is, what makes it special and what impact you have on your local community.
  • Getting in contact with local schools and universities is also a great way to promote your event to a wider audience whilst also enabling potential future partnerships to develop and supporting the curriculum of children outside of school through your community business. Approaching local councillors and MPs can likewise be an opportune way to spread the reasons why your community business matters.
  • Speaking to journalists and local papers can be a daunting task, but with the right approach and plenty of planning you’ll be sure to reach a wider audience through your regional news source.
  • On the day planning is an important aspect to think about ahead; arranging your spokesperson to speak to the media, photographing the event and keeping active on social media are all great ways of promoting your #CBWkd19 event.
  • Gareth speaks about how Regather have previously taken part in Community Business Weekend and how it helped them to relaunch their community business. Thinking about how your event can link to others in your community and making it relevant for local people is a great way to increase support and attendance on the day!
