Campaign launched to celebrate community business stories

As first reported in PR Week last week, a partnership has been formed to promote Community Business Weekend 2017 (#CBwkd17).

Community Business Weekend (5-8 October 2017) is a unique opportunity for community businesses across England to demonstrate the positive impact they have on society and tell their stories of success.

Community businesses are a relatively new phenomenon and can be set apart from other commercial and charitable organisations by their community ownership and localised decision making processes.

With over 7,000 community businesses already in existence, the Weekend will see an inspirational pack of ideas and advice sent out to up to 500 organisations. The guidance will also be replicated online with additional support delivered through webinars.

The campaign is being delivered by a partnership led by Power to Change, the Lottery-funded trust set up to support community businesses in England. Power to Change is being supported on delivery of the Weekend by community organisers from the Eden Project and communications specialists from Campaign Collective.

Mark Gordon, Director of Communications and Partnerships from Power to Change, said:

“We can’t wait for this year’s Community Business Weekend, which will be bigger than ever before, and this partnership will be crucial to its success.”
